BTS 방탄소년단 (septet boy band formed in 2010 and debuted in 2013)
그룹 방탄소년단(BTS)이 솔로 활동을 위해 ‘휴지’를 선언함에 따라 휴식기를 갖는다. K팝 슈퍼그룹 방탄소년단(BTS)의 ‘피곤한’ 일곱 멤버가 솔로 활동에 집중하기 위해 밴드에서 휴식을 취한다고 발표했다.

BTS 방탄소년단 are a 7-member South Korean boy group that debuted on June 13, 2013.
BTS, which debuted in 2013 and swept the Rookie of the Year awards at home and abroad, has grown into the top boy group representing Korea in name and reality. It is called ‘the 21st century pop icon’, causing a worldwide craze for BTS.
It has climbed to the top of the world’s leading charts such as US Billboard, UK official chart, Japanese Oricon, iTunes, Spotify, and Apple Music, and is also writing unrivaled records in album sales, music video views, and SNS index.
In particular, BTS is the first group to simultaneously conquer both the Billboard ‘Hot 100’ and ‘Billboard 200’ charts in one week, and topped the ‘Billboard 200’ 5 times and the ‘Hot 100’ 5 times.
In addition, at the ’63rd Grammy Awards’, the first Korean singer to perform on a solo stage, setting a record of performing at the top three American music awards ceremonies, including the ‘Billboard Music Awards’, ‘American Music Awards’ and ‘Grammy Awards’.
BTS has solidified its position as a global artist in the global concert market by holding a stadium tour, and is practicing good influence through UN speeches and LOVE MYSELF campaigns.
BTS debuted on June 13, 2013, with the single album ‘2 COOL 4 SKOOL’, emerged as the most notable rookie of the year, and received the Rookie of the Year award. It was also acclaimed on the LA KCON stage, and it was the beginning of a good response in the United States. In 2015, the popularity of the series ‘The Flower of Love’ series increased, and it ranked first on music shows.

In September 2020, ‘Dynamite’ became the first Korean to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100, the longest in the history of Melon Chart, and the first K-pop to be nominated and performed solo at the Grammy Awards, in November 2020. BE’ and ‘Life Goes On’ topped the Billboard Hot 100 (single) and 200 (album) charts at the same time, and achieved numerous achievements, including becoming the first Korean song in Billboard’s 62-year history to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
It is a representative of what is often referred to as the ‘miracle of small and medium-sized companies’. Even though they are not idols designed with overseas in mind[14], since 2017, they have been producing the greatest K-pop output in overseas popular records such as YouTube, Billboard, iTunes, UK charts, and Oricon.
In 2018, an article titled ‘Koreans topped the world’s top spot in popular culture for the first time since the founding of the country’ was published in 2018. There is also an article saying that it will rise to the ranks of classics like the Beatles over the generations and become an icon of hope in life.
In 2021, as ‘the first overseas artist’, it took the first place in the total ranking in the Japanese Oricon chart sales section, and as the first ‘foreign group’ and ‘foreign singer’, it is the first Oricon album sales in 37 years since Michael Jackson’s Thriller took the top. The International Music Industry Association has released a global music report titled ‘The world’s number one sales in the music market is BTS’.

In October 2019, Forbes reported an article paying attention to the economic effect of BTS, which generates 5.5 trillion won in GDP. In addition, it was revealed that the economic effect brought to Korea by ‘Dynamite’ topped the Billboard Hot 100 is at least 1.7 trillion won.
It is safe to say that they are so-called walking conglomerates, and in fact, many Korean media also describe them as ‘walking conglomerates’. According to a report by the Hyundai Research Institute as of 2021, BTS is bringing US$5 billion (about 5.7 trillion won) of economic benefits to Korea every year, and NPR has shown that BTS has a ripple effect in learning and donating to Korean culture.
