He was born on the 29th of November 1852, in Villarreal (Castelló).
His interest in the guitarist woke up when he heard and learned of a guitarist popular in your town, ‘the blind man of the Navy’.
He studied in Valencia with Coffers and Thomas Ladies and later harmony and piano at the Conservatory of Madrid with Hernando and Galiana.
He decided to devote himself entirely to the guitar, especially after the success they had in a concert at the Teatro Alhambra palace in Madrid.
It was established in Paris , earning the admiration of the public. Made good friends among artists, poets, politicians, and musicians of the stature of Isaac Albéniz , Felipe Pedrell , or Tomás Bretón.
In the year 1882 he settled permanently in Barcelona where he established his own school.
He gave a new impetus to the guitar scorn to take the contempt in which it had been for decades.
Among his works are: Dawn , Whim Arabic , Danza mora , Variations on the carnival of Venice , and Pavana , as well as numerous transcriptions of the works of Friedrich Händel , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Frédéric Chopin , and Isaac Albéniz , among others.
Francesc Tárrega passed away on December 15, 1909 in Barcelona.
