She was one of the voices of the Chanson Française of the 60s, and she asked Macron to have a dignified death

One of the voices of the French chanson of the 60s Françoise Hardy , who had been ill for years and had even asked Emmanuel Macron to legalize euthanasia, so she could have a dignified death, died this June 11, at 80 years. Her son, Thomas Dutronc, announced it t on Instagram.

Hardy has been, along with Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin , who died a year ago, one of the great icons of the 60s in France and one of the most famous singers inside and outside the country. She had thirty albums, she was a muse and an artist. She posed for designers such as Yves Saint Laurent or Paco Rabanne, she was photographed by photographers of the stature of William Klein and Richard Avedon.

Bob Dylan, Manuel Vázquez Montalbán and Jacques Prévert dedicated poems and verses to him and to his credit he has made a dozen films. He sang in English, Italian or Spanish.

He was born in Paris, 1944, in Nazi-occupied France. She always said that her nerves come from that. At age 16, her father asked her what she wanted for her birthday present. She chose a guitar. At 17, she joined Johnny Hallyday, a musical idol in France. She was the author of Tous les garçons et les filles , which gave name to her first album, and which made her popular.

She entered Eurovision with Monaco, where she placed fifth. Miniskirt and white cowboy boots, at 20 years old she was already a star in France. Between late 1962 and early 1963, Hardy’s singles “J’suis daccord”, “Le temps de l’amour” and “Tous les garçons et les filles” topped the French singles chart.

She was the partner of Jacques Dutronc, with whom she had a son, and from whom she ended up separating. After overcoming cancer, at the age of 74, in 2018 she released a new album called “Personne d’autre”. In 2021 she stopped singing due to the treatments she was undergoing for her illness: laryngeal cancer. She recently asked Macron to legalize euthanasia because her days “were hell.”
