LP 1973: ‘QUADROPHENIA’ (The Who)

the who Sheet music partitura partition noten spartiti 乐谱 楽譜

On October 26, 1973, the sixth studio album by the British band The Who was released in the United Kingdom. It was a double album with 17 songs composed by Pete Townshend that made up his second rock opera: 'Quadrophenia' whose title arose from a play on words with the terms 'quadrophonic', a new recording technique at the time, and 'schizophrenia' (schizophrenia) and which was intended to reflect the four personalities of Jimmy, the protagonist of the plot. This took place in 1965 between Brighton and London and events from English history and society appeared seen from the perspective of a teenager. Considered one of the band's best works, it was No. 2 on the English, Canadian and American charts. A film version was released in 1979, for whose soundtrack Townsend wrote three new songs.

Single 'YOUR SONG' (1970) Elton John

On October 26, 1970, the second single taken from his self-titled debut album, 'Take me to the pilot', was published in the United States, the B side of which was the song 'Your song', composed and performed by Elton John with lyrics by Bernie Taupin. The song had already been recorded by the group Three Dog Night on their album 'It Ain't Easy' in March 1970 but they did not publish it as a single, respecting the author's priority. 'Your song', despite being a B-side, was the favorite of disc jockeys of the time and ended up being the first international top 10 of John's career. The following year it was released in the United Kingdom, this time as side A and there it reached number 7. In 1998 she was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and is included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of 'the songs that shaped rock*roll'. It has received numerous versions, including those by Rod Stewart, Lady Gaga and Ellie Goulding, as well as the actors Ewan McGregor and Taron Egerton in the films 'Moulin Rouge!' (2001) and 'Rocket Man' (2019) respectively.
