From Hymns to Gospel: A Key Distinction

• The Clark Sisters: A legendary group that helped define contemporary gospel, known for their intricate harmonies and high-energy performances.
• CeCe Winans: One of the best-selling and most celebrated gospel artists of all time, bridging traditional and contemporary sounds.
• Kirk Franklin: A revolutionary figure who modernized gospel in the 1990s by infusing it with hip-hop, R&B, and contemporary pop production.
• The Soul Stirrers: A pioneering gospel quartet whose smooth harmonies laid the groundwork for R&B; they famously featured a young Sam Cooke.
