Krall’s classic style combines equal parts artistic vision, hard work and determination. The Nanaimo, British Columbia native began playing piano at the age of four. At 15, she was already performing “standards” in the crowded local cafes. Shortly afterward she won a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee School of Music, where she studied intensively for two years. Her move to Los Angeles made it possible to meet those who would be her most important mentors: the legendary bassist Ray Brown, the musical director of the Hollywood Bowl John Clayton and Jimmy Rowles, who encouraged her to sing for the first time. It was in Los Angeles where Diana Krall planted the seeds that marked the beginning of her career.

Her debut album for GRP, Only Trust Your Heart , marked the beginning of a long-lasting relationship with producer LiPuma. It was followed by All For You , a dynamic tribute to Nat King Cole’s trio that earned him his first GRAMMY nomination and a growing circle of fans. Love Scenes , his next work, showed his mastery in the field of balladry while revealing his more “naughty” side, as in the Blossom song Dearie Peel me a Grape . That album remained at the top of the Billboard charts for most of 1998 and earned him another GRAMMY nomination.

In 1999 she won a GRAMMY, also becoming the first jazz artist in 25 years to be nominated in the Record of the Year category. Suddenly, his presence was constant in all media, appearing in numerous television programs. A wide sector of celebrities declared their admiration for Diana Krall: from Harrison Ford or Jessica Parker to Elton John or Sting. His music appeared in countless films, such as Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Autumn in New York and Robert DeNiro’s The Score (2001).

The Look of Love marks the meeting of two legends, Ogerman and LiPuma, who have not worked together for 10 years. The album’s crystalline sound is due to the work of Al Schmitt, LiPuma’s frequent collaborator who was also the sound engineer for Diana’s previous album When I Look in Your Eyes , work that earned her a Grammy.

In 2002 comes Live in Paris , tranquility, sensuality and romanticism… And in 2004 The Girl In The Other Room includes 6 songs composed in collaboration with Elvis Costello plus versions of songs by Mose Alison, Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell and Tom Waits.

Quiet nights was her last release, with which she won a new Grammy award and which she presented live to us in 2009. Since then, Diana Krall has not stopped for a minute, in addition to an extensive tour around the world, she has produced his first album for another artist, none other than Barbra Streisand, and his collaborations also include two albums “Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International” and the album of Paul McCartney’s 2012 song, “Kisses On The Bottom”, featuring the song “My Valentine” as a performance. Sir Paul McCartney releases his first studio album in almost five years, an album that also bears the signature of Diana Krall, who has been in charge of the instrumental part, creating between them a work with great jazz standards.
