The first concert organized by the jazz magazine “Esquire” was in 1944, and the organizers had the happy idea of inviting all the musicians who had been winners of the surveys that the magazine itself organized annually among its readers. This is how the famous “Esquire All Star Jazz Concert” was born. This album faithfully documents the first of them all, held on January 13, 1944 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
