LP 1965: ‘RUBBER SOUL’ (The Beatles)
On December 3, 1965, ‘Rubber Soul’, the sixth studio album by the Beatles, was released in the United Kingdom. Recorded in just four weeks to take advantage of the Christmas market, it was their first full-length album whose recording was not interrupted by tours, concerts, or filming.
The production was carried out by George Martin and in ‘Rubber Soul’ you can perceive the influence of American pop, soul and folk-rock that the quartet received on their tours of the United States. Instruments and sounds that were unheard of or unusual in pop were introduced, such as the sitar of ‘Norwegian Wood’ or the fuzz bass of ‘Think for yourself’ and the album marked a new stage in the group’s creativity.
It was the sixth Beatles’ album to reach No. 1 in less than two years, and is still currently in the top ten on virtually every ‘greatest albums of all time’ lists.

1984 single: ‘LAST CHRISTMAS’ (Wham!)
On December 3, 1984, the single by the duo Wham! ‘Last Christmas’, a Christmas song composed by George Michael. Since then, it has been a classic at this time in many parts of the world, and in Germany it is the most successful Christmas single in its history, appearing practically every year in the German charts. The year of its release it sold more than a million copies, and in the United Kingdom it holds the record for being one of the best-selling singles that did not reach No. 1.
