LP 1978: ‘THE GAMBLER’ (Kenny Rogers)
On November 7, 1978, country singer Kenny Rogers’ sixth album was released, released by United Artists and produced by Larry Butler, perhaps the best known internationally. Both the title track of the album written by Don Schlitz and Steve Gibb’s ‘She Believes in Me’ were No. 1 on the country charts and top20 and top5 respectively on the Hot100, which allowed Rogers to be known beyond country circles and establish himself as one of the most successful artists of the 70s and 80s.
