Miles Davis – E.S.P. (1965)
E.S.P. is an album by Miles Davis, recorded on January 20–22, 1965 and released on August 16 of that year by Columbia Records. It is the first release from what is known as Davis’s second great quintet: Davis on trumpet, Wayne Shorter on tenor saxophone, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass, and Tony Williams on drums. The album was named after a tune by Shorter, and was inspired by the fact that, “since Wayne Shorter’s arrival, the five members of the quintet seemed to communicate by mental telepathy.

The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is a studio album by Charles Mingus. It was recorded on January 20, 1963, and released in July of that year by Impulse! Records. The album comprises a single continuous composition—partially written as a ballet—divided into four tracks and six movements. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz records of all time.

Andrew Hill – Spiral (1975)
Spiral is an album by American jazz pianist Andrew Hill, recorded in late 1974 and early 1975 and released on the Freedom label. The album features six of Hill’s original compositions and one interpretation of a jazz standard performed by a quartet and quintet. Featured players include saxophonist Lee Konitz and trumpeter Ted Curson. The cover incorrectly identifies the album as being recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival when it actually contains studio recordings.

Eventuality: The Charlie Kohlhase Quintet Plays the Music of Roswell Rudd is an album by saxophonist Charlie Kohlhase on which he and his quintet perform music composed by trombonist Roswell Rudd, with whom he studied.
The album was recorded at PBS Studios in Westwood, Massachusetts in January 2000 and released later that year by Nada Music. Kohlhase is joined by Rudd on trombone and mellophone, Matt Langley on saxophone, John Carlson on trumpet and flugelhorn, John Turner on bass and Johnny McLellan on drums.
Regarding poor distribution, Kohlhase commented: “No one can find it anywhere in the world. It’s a great album but it’s a top secret album.”
