LP 1972: ‘LET’S STAY TOGETHER’ (Al Green)
On January 31, 1972, the fourth album by American soul vocalist and songwriter Al Green was released, which was a success, reaching number 8 on the Billboard 200 pop charts. It was the first of six consecutive albums to achieve No. 1 on the soul and R&B album charts. The album’s title single was their only No. 1 on the Hot100. Produced like the previous two by Willie Mitchell, it marked the beginning of his classic period of magnificent albums that would extend until 1976.
