Clifford Brown/Max Roach – Study in Brown (1955)
Study in Brown (EmArcy Records, 1955) is a Clifford Brown and Max Roach album. The album consists predominantly of originals by members of the band. The songs “Lands End”, by tenor saxophonist Harold Land, and “Sandu”, by Brown, have gone on to become jazz standards. The song “George’s Dilemma” is also known as “Ulcer Department”. Brown’s solo on “Cherokee” is among the most acclaimed solos in jazz.

Charles Owens – The Two Quartets (1978)
Born April 5, 1937, Charles Owens has been a mainstay of our jazz community for nearly half a century. Charlie O, as we sometimes fondly call him, is a master woodwind musician. His passion and love of the saxophone started when he was a small child.

Wayne Shorter – Adam’s Apple (1966)
Adam’s Apple is the tenth album by post-bop jazz artist Wayne Shorter. Recorded in 1966 and released in 1967, it included the first recording of his composition “Footprints“, later recorded by the Miles Davis Quintet for the album Miles Smiles (1967). Shorter is featured with pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Reggie Workman and drummer Joe Chambers. The CD release includes the Hancock composition “The Collector” (also known as “Teo’s Bag“) as a bonus track.
