LP 1977: ‘PETER GABRIEL’ (Peter Gabriel)

On February 25, 1977, Peter Gabriel’s first solo studio album was released after his departure from Genesis. In the song ‘Solsbury hill’, which was released as a single, Gabriel explained his feelings after leaving the band. The album was the first in a series of four, whose title was the same, which is why it is also known as ‘Car’, after the car that appears on the cover. Musicians such as Robert Fripp, Tony Levin and Steve Hunter collaborated. Recorded at Toronto’s Soundstage Studios under production by Bob Ezrin, it peaked at number 7 on the UK charts and number 38 on the American Billboard 200.
