Single 1964: ‘CANT BUY ME LOVE’ (The Beatles)
On March 20, 1964, the sixth single from the Liverpool quartet was released in the UK while they were filming the movie ‘A Hard Day’s Night’. The single was their fourth number one hit on the UK charts and their third to sell over a million copies. In the US, it was released four days earlier, and when it reached number one on the Billboard charts, taking over from ‘She Loves You’ in April 1964, the unusual circumstance arose that the top five songs on the American charts were Beatles songs.
