LP 1969: ‘CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY’ (Chicago)
On April 28, 1969, the first album of the group Chicago, 'Chicago Transit Authority', was released in the United States, for many, their best work. Surprisingly, and despite being a double, it peaked at number 17 in the US and number 9 in the UK and remained on the charts for about 171 weeks (which was a record at the time). The rise of FM stations that, unlike AM stations, broadcast songs of more than 3 minutes, greatly helped the spread of Chicago music.
