Biography of Tony Bennett

Anthony Dominick Benedeto, better known as Tony Bennett, was born in New York City in 1926. He was introduced to the musical environment by starting music lessons on 52nd Street, which he maintained with his work in clubs and entertainment programs, for radio and television.

In the year 1949 he had the fortune to act and by the way to stand out in ‘Greenwich Village’ together with Pearl Bailey, and he was hired by Bob Hope for a few days, unforgettable for him. And because of him, he has been recommended by him and has been encouraged to send a private recording to the artistic director of the Columbia label, who hires him as soon as he hears it.

Later comes the start of Tony Benett’s career as a balladeer, who is influenced by artists of the stature of Billy Eckstine or Mel Tormé. At this stage, his first albums have shown excellent quality in his vocal art. Next, Tony has made generous contributions to the “Count Basie” orchestra.
Bennett has fortunately found an arranger on the Ralph Burns label, who was well versed in the big band tradition, although he would record for Columbia under jazz hater Mitch Miller.

And so, in the 1970s, Tony reached his peak, shining with his jazz singing, and he has accentuated it by recording essential albums in his career, this time for the “Fantasy” label.

Going from decade to decade, Tony Bennett has recorded an impeccable album in tribute to his dear friend and teacher, Frank Sinatra entitled ‘Perfectly Frank’, with which he gets a Grammy and, which is a model of balance of jazz singing. .
The musician has been the protagonist of his recording of a live album for MTV entitled ‘Unplugged’, which has marked a different stage.

Biography of Lay Gaga

(Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta; New York, 1986) American singer. Great diva of the latest pop and reigns at least in the eccentricity for the groundbreaking aesthetic that accompanies her concerts and public appearances, the albums and singles of her still brief but original career have repeatedly topped the sales charts and won numerous awards and acknowledgments. In the 2010 edition of the MTV Video Music Awards, she was the big winner by taking eight of the thirteen awards she aspired to.

The daughter of a businessman and a telecommunications assistant of Italian origin, at the age of four she began to play the piano by hearsay, and at twelve she was already making her first steps as a composer.

She studied at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, in Manhattan, an elite private and Catholic school for females in which, at the same time, other young girls were also studying who would feed (although for other reasons) the pages of the couché paper: Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.

At seventeen, she was admitted to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts to study music, though she dropped out after a few months. Plump and with long dark hair, she began her artistic career performing melodic songs on the piano in clubs and small venues in New York. Nothing foreshadowed that shortly after we would be facing a global icon.

In 2006 Stefani was performing on the Lower East Side with cover bands like Mackin Pulsifer and SGBand. In the meantime she was trying unsuccessfully to place her demos on some record labels, and she made a living as a songwriter for established artists like Pussycat Dolls, New Kids on the Block, Fergie or Akon.

Things would change when she met music producer Rob Fusari, with whom she began a work and sentimental relationship. It was Fusari who gave her the nickname Lady Gaga, in honor of the Radio Gaga song by Queen, one of Stefani’s leading groups.

And then he took a turn in his career. In the Lower East Side, where he lived between parties and drugs, he created with the performance artist Lady Starlight a burlesque, avant-garde and dance show entitled Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue, which already hinted at the new paths along which the artist, especially aesthetic ones.

One day Akon, who already knew her songwriting skills, heard her sing and decided to sign her to her label, Kon Live Distribution. This is how Lady Gaga began to work, in collaboration with Fusari and other producers such as RedOne or Martin Kierszenbaum, on what would be her debut album, The Fame.

The first single from the album, Just Dance, appeared in April 2008, coinciding with his estrangement from Fusari, and was soon number one in countries such as the United States (with more than 400,000 digital downloads), Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.

For this work, the new artist was nominated for a Grammy for the first time. The Lady Gaga phenomenon was born. The Fame hit record stores in August, and the album’s second single, Poker Face, co-written and co-produced, like the previous one, by RedOne, a month later. Once again, the song was number one in twenty countries, including the United States, which once again raised it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list (April 2009).

The Fame, a mix of eighties electro-pop and synth-pop and dance sounds, was one of the best-selling albums of 2009 worldwide, with more than twelve million copies, and reached number one in countries such as the United Kingdom. United Kingdom, Canada and Ireland. Lady Gaga’s songs were heard on all radio stations, and the artist began to be covered in the specialized press.

Also contributing to this was her first tour, The Fame Ball Tour; her promotional videos, taken care of in detail with an aesthetic that is increasingly in line with the Lady Gaga we know today, and five nominations for the Grammy Awards. In Just Dance, the platinum blonde Gaga already appears; with a lightning bolt on her cheek, she pays homage to David Bowie from Aladdin Sane, another of her references. And in Poker Face, she incorporates her sexiest and futuristic streak. Poker Face won three nominations at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Video of the Year, an award that ultimately went to Beyoncé (Single Ladies).

At the time that her singles began to be number one and her videos were sweeping television and especially on the Internet, Lady Gaga was forging her character and her legend. Impossible hairstyles, extreme makeup, sidereal or cosmic or simply groundbreaking costumes, increasingly sophisticated scenery, choreographies bordering on pornography, a thousand eccentricities and explosive statements to the press (such as when she declared herself a hermaphrodite) made her increasingly popular, and she began to be usual that was the center of all eyes.

In the last quarter of 2009, Lady Gaga released her second studio album, The Fame Monster. She presented her first single, Bad Romance, at Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2010 fashion week on October 25, 2009. The impact could not have been more spectacular. Described by Gaga as the ‘first electro-pop opera’, the tour would take her to five continents, until June 2011, and would stop in Spain for only two concerts, in Barcelona and Madrid, on December 7 and 12, 2010. Tickets went on sale on May 5; three days later they were sold out.

On September 12, 2010, Lady Gaga was the star of the MTV Video Music Awards gala, at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, winning eight of the thirteen awards to which she aspired: the best video of the year (for Bad Romance), Best Pop Video, Best Video by a Female Artist, Best Dance Video, Best Choreography, Best Direction, and Best Editing; for Telephone, in which she appears with Beyoncé, she took home the best collaboration.

Lady Gaga, who presented herself with eight different dresses (one for each award and among them one made with beef fillets that caused astonishment), took advantage of the occasion to announce the title of her next album: Born This Way, which would be released in May 2011, and which was once again extremely well received, both in terms of sales and in its appreciation by music critics.
